Alex's Cakes 2 Party 4: Terms and Conditions

• All our cakes are handmade and decorated to your requirements, although slight changes may occur with colours and designs due to the nature of the work entailed. If major changes need to be made they will be discussed with you first.
    
• Please note when choosing a design from the website that your cake may differ slightly in detail as they are each individually handmade and decorated and hence unique.
   
• All cakes are freshly made on the premises, in a cake studio. All madeira cakes are made as nut free, but we cannot 100% guarantee this, as there are nuts held on the premises.
   
• When ordering "sponge cakes" please realise you are ordering a madeira cake, not a victoria sponge the difference being that the Madeira lasts longer, is firmer in texture but is still a moist cake. Due to the work that is entailed in carving of cakes and weight of decoration on top a sponge cake is not a viable option.
   
• Once the cake has been collected/delivered we cannot be responsible for any damage.
   
• Where possible the figures and flowers are made to be edible, if this is not the case, you will be notified in writing on collection of the cake, with a safety notice informing you of how to look after the cake once it is collected/delivered. Please hand this notice to any caterers if this is required.

Deposit and Charges

• Where possible orders are preferred at least 10 working days in advance. For all cakes that are required within 72 hours, payment in full is required before the cake is made and please note a 24hr resting period is required before cakes can be decorated.
   
• Any cakes that are required to be collected on a Sunday or Bank holiday will have a surcharge put on them.
   
• Where cakes are couriered payments are made to Alex's cakes and Alex's cakes will pay the courier.
   
• A deposit of £10 is required on all novelty cakes, which is non refundable and with outstanding payment on collection.
   
• For wedding cakes a £100 non refundable deposit is required and payment in full two weeks before the wedding date. We will notify you when the payment is due. If payments are not received the cake will not be made.
   
• Any changes to a wedding cake order may incur extra charges depending on the type of change that required. 

Cancellations

• If a wedding cake is cancelled within 4 weeks of the wedding the full outstanding balance will still be payable. All other cakes will need to be cancelled at least 72 hours from collection date, otherwise they will need paying in full. All deposits are non refundable.

Wedding Cake Set up and Equipment Hire

• Alex's cakes does not at present do wedding cake set ups however cakes can be delivered to your venue of choice. Most cakes are on stands or bases where minimal set up is required, all cakes are boxed and stacked cakes can be boxed in special boxes, where no set up is required.
   
• Cake stands and base plinths are available to hire, as well as multitiered cake stands for mini cakes for a £15 four day hire period. A deposit of £100 is required for the date of the wedding, If cake stands and bases are not returned by the date due and in the condition in which they were hired out, the deposit will not be returned.
   
• Cake knife and server are also available to hire.
    
• Loaned equipment must be returned to Alex's cakes, 1 Fordwich Close, Cambridge CB4
